![]() I would like to begin by paying a tribute to my father. He passed away on January 8 in his home. He had suffered from a rare illness called "Very Severe Aplastic Anemia" which strikes one in a million people. I spent much of the November, December and January caring for my father (and mother) who was at the University of Louisville hospital. He was a farmer all his life and was quite the innovator, especially as it pertained to his farm management skills. He understood hedging when most farmers considered the futures market akin to a casino. He would show me the charts he used to plot basis values every day which fascinated me. Besides this, he taught me a lot about how to care for and treat people. You can read his obituary here if you are interested. The process of caring for my family, and moving right into the crop insurance decision period made it impossible to ever get caught up. I am sorry for any person whom I left stranded without any guidance.
Alright, enough of that and looking forward, after extreme selloffs across the entire grain complex, there are a lot of signs that the markets have run out of steam and are ready for a rebound. I have some targets and recommendations on the opportunities page.
